How a Webworthy project works

From your first call to your new site going live – here’s exactly what to expect

A straightforward process with no surprises – and very little demand on your time.

One of the biggest worries small business owners have about commissioning a new website is the time it will take.

We’ve designed this process so that we do the heavy lifting and you stay focused on running your business.

We take the project lead from day one. We’ll tell you what we need, when we need it, and what’s happening at every stage. You won’t be chasing us for updates or trying to spoonfeed a developer who doesn’t understand your business.

From your first call to your new site going live typically takes around four weeks – often less, once your content is ready. Here’s how the process works.

There are no hidden stages, no surprise costs and no moment where we come back with a bigger bill.

The four stages of a Webworthy project

A clear, four-stage process from first conversation to live website.

1. Discovery

We have an initial call, review your current site and agree the scope of your new one. No surprises later – everything is confirmed upfront.

What we need from you: 30 minutes of your time.

2. Design

We create a design for your new site based on your existing branding. You review it, we refine it, and we agree it before a single line of code is written.

What we need from you: your logo, brand colours and feedback.

3. Build & review

We build your site on WordPress and share a staging link so you can review it before it goes anywhere near the public. We fix your feedback, test everything and get your sign-off.

What we need from you: a review and final approval.

4. Launch & beyond

We launch your site, connect Analytics and Search Console, run final checks and hand over the keys. Then we stay on as your hosting, support and maintenance team.

What we need from you: nothing – we handle the lot.

Stage 1

Stage 1: Discovery

Before we touch a single design, we want to understand your business, your audience and what your website needs to do for you.

The first step is a 30-minute discovery call with Dave. We’ll talk through your current site, what’s working and what isn’t, who your customers are and what you want your new site to achieve. There are no stupid questions at this stage – the more we understand about your business, the better the site we’ll build.

After the call, we review your existing website and any content you already have. We’ll agree the structure of your new site – how many pages, what goes on each one, and what content we can carry across from your current site.

You don’t need to have everything ready before we start.

Most clients come to us with a current website and some existing content. That’s usually enough to get going. If anything is missing, we’ll tell you exactly what we need and keep it as simple as possible to pull together.

By the end of Stage 1, we’ll have a clear, agreed scope for your project – and you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

Stage 2

Stage 2: Design

We create a professional design for your new site – one that looks great, represents your business properly and is built to convert visitors into enquiries.

Our designers work from your existing logo and branding to produce a clean, professional layout. We keep the design simple on purpose: clear layouts, good typography and a design that works just as well on a mobile as it does on a desktop.

We’ll share designs with you for feedback before anything is built. This is the stage where you can tell us if something isn’t quite right – it’s far quicker to change a design than to unpick built code.

We don’t do design by committee.

We find that the best results come when we lead on design and you give us focused, honest feedback. We’re not precious about it – if something isn’t working for you, tell us. But we’ll also push back if a request would make the site less effective for your audience.

By the end of Stage 2, you’ll have approved a design you’re happy with and we’re ready to build.

Stage 3

Stage 3: Build & review

Once the design is approved, our developers get to work building your site on WordPress. You’ll be able to review it on a private staging link before it goes anywhere near your live domain.

Every Webworthy site is hand-built on our own bespoke WordPress theme – not a page builder, not an off-the-shelf template. Your content gets uploaded and formatted properly, contact forms are set up and tested, and the site is optimised for speed and mobile performance throughout the build.

When the build is complete, we share a staging link so you can review the full site before it goes live. You give us your feedback in one round, we make the changes, and you sign it off.

We test everything before you see it.

Every page is checked on desktop and mobile, every form is tested, every link is verified. We don’t share a staging site full of problems and expect you to find them – we QA it ourselves first.

By the end of Stage 3, you’ve approved a finished, tested website that’s ready to launch.

Stage 4

Stage 4: Launch & beyond

Once you’ve given your sign-off, we launch. We handle the entire process of taking your site live – including DNS, redirects and final performance checks.

On launch day, we point your domain to the new site, run a full round of post-launch checks and make sure everything is working exactly as it should on your live URL. We connect Google Analytics and Google Search Console so you can track your site’s performance from day one.

After launch, we stay on as your hosting, maintenance and support team for the duration of your 12-month agreement. That includes keeping WordPress, your theme and all plugins up to date, monitoring your site for uptime, and providing up to 20 minutes of support each month for any changes or questions.

What happens after 12 months?

After your initial 12-month term, the site is yours outright. You can continue with us on a flexible rolling monthly arrangement for hosting and support, move your site to your own hosting, or go it alone entirely – whatever works best for you at that point.

The site we build is yours. We’re just here to make sure it keeps working hard for your business.
